The Santa Monica Police Department announced plans Wednesday to open a substation at the Santa Monica Place Mall.

“Located on the ground level of Santa Monica Place, the substation represents a collaborative effort between the city and the property management team, Prism Places, to enhance public safety and strengthen community engagement with residents, visitors, and business owners,” city officials said in a statement.

Stenn Parton, founder and CEO of Prism Places, said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to fostering a “safe and connected” downtown district.

“The new substation marks a vital step for Santa Monica Place and its return as a thriving retail destination,” he said.

The official opening date and additional details will be announced in the upcoming weeks as the city and the police department continue preparations to make the substation “fully operational and accessible” for the public.
