Three Fullerton high schools and an elementary school were placed on lockdown Thursday as police investigated bomb threats, but three of the campuses were cleared of students by late afternoon.

The schools affected were Sunny Hills High School, 1801 Lancer Way; Troy High School, 2200 E. Dorothy Lane; Fullerton Union High School, 201 E. Chapman Ave, and Fern Drive Elementary School, 1400 W. Fern Drive.

Troy, Fullerton and Fern students were released as of 3:50 p.m., police said. The investigation at Sunny Hills was continuing.

The first threat came in about 1:25 p.m. Thursday, followed by the others, said Fullerton police Officer Kristy Wells.

The schools were locked down “as a precaution,” Wells said.

The public was urged to remain clear of the schools while police investigated, Wells said.
