A Silver Alert for an 83-year-old man who was last seen in Torrance was in effect Friday in Los Angeles and Orange counties.
Jerry Toma was last seen at approximately 3 p.m. Thursday near Cricklewood and Madison streets, according to the California Highway Patrol, which activated the alert on behalf of the Torrance Police Department.
Toma is white, 6 feet, 1 inch tall, weighs 240 pounds, is bald and has blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt, a blue vest, blue pants and blue shoes. Authorities say Toma is believed to be traveling in a 2008 silver Hyundai Elantra with a California license plate 6DGP142.
Anyone who has seen Toma or knows of his whereabouts was asked to call 911.
The CHP established the Silver Alert program to issue and coordinate alerts involving the unexplained or suspicious disappearances of the elderly, developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired individuals.
