The cause of a fire that destroyed a single-story home in Santa Clarita remained under tight wraps Sunday, as authorities continue to piece together evidence.

Deputies were dispatched to the home in the 29100 block of Flowerpark Drive at about 1 p.m. Saturday in response to reports of an “open door” or “broken window” just prior to the blaze, according to a watch commander at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Santa Clarita station.

No one was detained or arrested, he said.

Firefighters determined to go into “surround and drown” mode due to the intensity of the flames, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department public information officer.

Nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution, Capt. Brian Kight told City News Service.

The fire, which included a roof collapse, was officially knocked down at 2:32 p.m. Saturday, but firefighters stuck around until 8 p.m. to extinguish any hot spots.

No injuries were reported.

Authorities would not elaborate on reports that sheriff’s deputies were initially called to the home for some sort of psychological disturbance.
