An allegedly armed suspect was shot to death by police Thursday in front of the science museum in the Exposition Park area of Los Angeles.
The shooting was reported at 9:40 a.m. Thursday at 700 Exposition Park Drive after police received a report of a man armed with a rifle, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The suspect, a 35-year-old man, was shot in the picnic table-lined thoroughfare between the California Science Center and the Exposition Park Rose Garden, according to KTLA.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
No details were immediately released regarding how many officers fired and how many shots were discharged.
Video from the scene showed what appeared to be a rifle.
As the incident unfolded, students on the nearby USC campus received alerts to avoid the area because of police activity.
