A man in his 40s died when he accidentally shot himself following a traffic collision in El Sereno, the Los Angeles Police Department reported Wednesday.
Officers from the LAPD’s Hollenbeck Division responded to a report of a shooting at 8:50 p.m. Tuesday following a vehicle collision at the intersection of Pueblo Avenue and Navarro Street, LAPD Officer Norma Eisenmann told City News Service.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene, where they pronounced the man dead.
The Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office was working to positively identify the man and notify his next of kin, but reported that he is in his 40s.
The shooting was under investigation and it was not immediately clear how the man came to fatally injure himself.
