Authorities Tuesday were investigating the death of a 39-year-old pedestrian who suffered fatal injuries in a hit-and-run crash in Santa Clarita.

Deputies responded at 8:22 p.m. Friday to the intersection of Magic Mountain Parkway and Tourney Road to reports of a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian — identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office as Dion Mumphery — and a large, dark-colored pickup, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver failed to remain at the scene and continued westbound on Magic Mountain Parkway, authorities said.

Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel pronounced Mumphery dead at the scene.

The medical examiner listed his cause of death as traumatic blunt force injuries.

Mumphery’s sister, Jenny Rivera, told City News Service her brother was the father of two sons and lived in El Monte.

“I just want justice for my brother,” she said.

A detailed description of the suspect was not available, but anyone who witnessed the crash was urged to call the sheriff’s Santa Clarita Station at 661-260-4000.
