Police Thursday were searching for a hit-and-run driver who killed a 65-year-old pedestrian in the South Los Angeles area.
A silver four-door sedan was traveling north on Figueroa Street near 75th Street at about 3:10 a.m. Monday when it collided with the victim, who was walking on Figueroa, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The driver did not stop, police said.
Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene. He was later identified as Jose Melesio of Chicago, according to the LAPD.
