A motorist was at large Tuesday after fatally injuring a pedestrian with a vehicle and fleeing from the scene in Indio, police said.
The crash was reported shortly after 10:30 p.m. Monday on Golf Center Parkway, north of Avenue 45, according to the Indio Police Department.
Police said a witness called 911 after finding an unresponsive woman lying in the roadway. The victim sustained “extensive injuries” and was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, the department stated.
