A motorcyclist was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Lake Elsinore, authorities announced Sunday.

The crash was reported at 11 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Railroad Canyon and Church roads, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Responding deputies located the unresponsive motorcyclist suffering from significant injuries. Deputies and paramedics attempted lifesaving measures, but the rider succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff’s department announced.

The Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station’s Traffic Team responded and assumed the investigation.

The motorcyclist was identified as 44-year-old Joshua Coan of Menifee. The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
