A 54-year-old Palmdale woman was facing elder financial abuse allegations Wednesday in connection with a victim for whom she was a caregiver.

Detectives from the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department arrested Jacqueline Huey after the person she was caring for alerted police that she suspected the woman had allegedly been using multiple credit cards and financial accounts without authorization to make fraudulent purchases.

The alleged unauthorized purchases began in February, police said.

“Following the investigation … detectives conducted surveillance related to the case and obtained both an arrest warrant for Huey and a search warrant for her residence,” according to a release from the city.

According to police, “significant evidence,” including allegedly stolen credit cards, fraudulent checks and multiple notebooks and ledgers that documented the fraud, was seized during a search Thursday in Palmdale.

The warrants were executed by the police department’s Special Response Team.

Huey was booked on suspicion of aggregate grand theft and elder abuse by a caretaker, according to the city’s news release.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department jail records indicate she was cited and released the day she was arrested and was next due to appear in municipal court in Torrance on Aug. 11.

It was not immediately clear if Huey has been formally charged.

Detectives suspect there may be additional victims and asked anyone with information about Huey to contact Detective Sisson at 310-750-9833.
