A 22-year-old man was charged Thursday with shooting at two women who followed him when he crashed into their car in Garden Grove.

Phillip Robert Villa was charged with two counts of attempted murder with sentencing enhancements for attempted premeditated murder and discharge of a gun.

Villa did not enter a plea at his arraignment Thursday in the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana. His arraignment was rescheduled for next Thursday in the West Justice Center in Westminster.

Villa allegedly crashed into the car the women were in a parking lot at a park Oct. 18, according to Garden Grove police Sgt. Nick Jensen. The women followed him to get his information to hand over to police.

When Villa crashed again, he got out of the car and opened fire on the women, shooting several times about 2:20 a.m. at Ninth Street and Lampson Avenue, Jensen said. The women escaped injury.
