Firefighters from the Los Angeles County and Long Beach fire departments were engaged in a defensive firefight with a stubborn blaze at a commercial building in Signal Hill Thursday evening.
Firefighters responded to the building at 2844 Gardena Ave., north of East 28th Street, at around 9:30 p.m. where they encountered flames and smoke, KTLA 5 reported.
It is not immediately known what started the fire.
