At least one person was injured when a big rig and multiple other vehicles crashed Friday spilling diesel fuel and spreading debris on the Foothill (210) Freeway in Sylmar.

California Highway Patrol were called to the eastbound freeway at the Roxford Street exit at 1:48 a.m. Friday where initially officers reported a vehicle was blocking the middle lanes of the freeway. When they arrived, they found the multi-vehicle crash and one person was trapped inside the big rig, a CHP officer told City News Service.

The victim was freed from the big rig and taken to a hospital in an unknown condition.

A Caltrans crew was called to clean up diesel fuel and debris from the middle lanes of the freeway, the CHP said.

The crash closed all lanes of the eastbound freeway at Roxford for an estimated two and a half hours.
