A rapidly spreading brush fire scorched 205 acres of vegetation in a remote, difficult-to-access area of Val Verde Wednesday before being contained.
The Chloe Fire was reported at approximately 4 p.m. Wednesday near Highway 126 at San Martinez Grande Canyon Road, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Initially estimated at about 5 acres, the blaze increased to at least 25 acres by 5 p.m., according to Cal Fire. Cal Fire officials reported 40 minutes later that the fire had grown to about 140 acres, noting it was burning in a remote area “with difficult access.”
The fast-moving flames had burned approximately 205 acres by 6 p.m., according to Los Angeles County Fire Department officials.
The fire was contained as of 8:55 p.m., the department announced.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
