A Garden Grove police officer has been arrested on suspicion of engaging in “inappropriate interaction” with an underage girl in the department’s Explorer Program.

Officer Roberto Machuca, who has been placed on administrative leave, was arrested Saturday and was released from custody Sunday, according to Orange County Jail Records. His city of residence was not provided.

Machuca, who will turn 33 on July 14, was accused on Friday of the alleged inappropriate interaction with the explorer, according to police.

Investigators were not releasing the age of the girl, but the program’s minimum age requirement is 14 years old, according to Garden Grove police Sgt. Nick Jensen.

Investigators declined to release further details. Police were continuing the investigation and have not yet presented a case to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, Jensen said.
