A two-alarm fire that broke out Thursday in a Lake Elsinore home tore through the residence, causing major damage and possibly injuring one of the occupants, though that couldn’t immediately be confirmed.
The blaze was reported at 3:20 p.m. Thursday at 610 W. Pottery St., near North Kellogg Street, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames raging toward the rear of the single-story structure.
The fire spread into the backyard, threatening to spread to a neighboring residence before firefighters established a defensive perimeter, blocking it, according to reports from the scene.
Neighbors reported at least one person inside the burning home, but as of 3:35 p.m., there were no signs of an occupant.
Sheriff’s deputies shut down a one-block segment of Pottery for public safety.
There was no immediate word on what might have triggered the fire.
