A 41-year-old woman was convicted Wednesday in a deadly crash that killed a woman in Stanton more than five years ago.
Cristina Gaudalupe Gonzales was convicted of second-degree murder in the March 21, 2021, crash that killed 31-year-old Desiree Robles.
The crash happened at about 1:30 a.m. on the Stanton/Anaheim border as Robles was crossing the street outside of a crosswalk at 8901 Katella Ave., according to Carrie Braun, a spokeswoman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Robles died at the scene, the coroner’s office reported.
Gonzales had a blood-alcohol level of .17, more than twice the legal limit of .08, according to court records.
*As Robles, high on cocaine and with a BAC of .12, attempted to run through a poorly lit roadway as the oncoming car was already incredibly close. Any reasonable person would’ve waited for the car to pass.
The crime lab also testified they don’t know what the driver’s BAC was when she was driving. There is a theory that it could have been .17, if various circumstances were met/true. It’s not that her blood or breath results showed .17.
Regardless the woman is guilty and there’s nothing you can lie about or do to change it

Yes, she’s “guilty,” as she’s been found guilty. I can’t change that, but I’m not trying to. I was trying to read a little more about the case and came across this article that was lacking key information. I’m adding context to a poorly written article.
“Guilt” is a finding. And here it is a conclusion that was reached based on what appear to be lies and misrepresentations presented to the jury and the general fear that surrounds DUIs. No one likes DUIs but that doesn’t make everything murder.
The problem is this could’ve happened to anyone driving down the street. They played the video a ton at the trial, I saw it. The decedent was in the dark and ran out at the last second. A driver would have a high chance of hitting her, whether that driver had been drinking or was stone sober. This should’ve been manslaughter at worst.
How dare you slander Robles’ name. I was there that night and feet away from her when it happened and she was struck. Even if she was high, the person in the SUV accelerated, not attempted to brake!!! I heard the revving of the engine! She was clearly drunk to have pressed the gas instead of the brake! Don’t be a disgusting individual and shame the girl that died!
I don’t think you understand what “slander” means.
Hopefully next time you’re feet away from someone running headlong into the street without looking, especially when there are oncoming cars, you’ll call out to them and encourage them to not to.
Whether it was this driver or it was someone else, the accident was bound to happen when Robles ran out. That’s really the simplest truth here.
No one “pressed the gas instead the brakes.” There is a video of it.
Your lies won’t change her sentence huh?!? I call bull because I was there and I heard her press the gas, I was feet away! The revving of the engine was clear as day and if there is video, I’m in it then! The woman that killed her and is locked up deserves EVERYTHING she gets! And don’t try to educate me on definitions of things…guaranteed my IQ is higher than yours as it is higher then most “normal” or in your case “mediocre” people alive! If that is your family member who is the murderer, may karma continue to come for her. She messed up and drove to the next light before bystanders stopped her!
