A 41-year-old woman was convicted Wednesday in a deadly crash that killed a woman in Stanton more than five years ago.
Cristina Gaudalupe Gonzales was convicted of second-degree murder in the March 21, 2021, crash that killed 31-year-old Desiree Robles.
The crash happened at about 1:30 a.m. on the Stanton/Anaheim border as Robles was crossing the street outside of a crosswalk at 8901 Katella Ave., according to Carrie Braun, a spokeswoman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Robles died at the scene, the coroner’s office reported.
Gonzales had a blood-alcohol level of .17, more than twice the legal limit of .08, according to court records.
*As Robles, high on cocaine and with a BAC of .12, attempted to run through a poorly lit roadway as the oncoming car was already incredibly close. Any reasonable person would’ve waited for the car to pass.
The crime lab also testified they don’t know what the driver’s BAC was when she was driving. There is a theory that it could have been .17, if various circumstances were met/true. It’s not that her blood or breath results showed .17.
Regardless the woman is guilty and there’s nothing you can lie about or do to change it
How dare you slander Robles’ name. I was there that night and feet away from her when it happened and she was struck. Even if she was high, the person in the SUV accelerated, not attempted to brake!!! I heard the revving of the engine! She was clearly drunk to have pressed the gas instead of the brake!
