A 79-year-old woman who attempted a U-turn inside a parking lot of a preschool in Glendale Friday accidentally crashed into a wall, injuring eight children who sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
A Glendale Police Department spokesman told City News Service that the woman accidentally stepped on the gas and drove into a wall of a classroom where students were present Friday afternoon in the 1200 block of North Pacific Avenue, resulting in eight children sustaining minor injuries.
The children were taken to a hospital and later released to their parents.
The spokesman told CNS that the driver did not seem to be impaired, and that detectives did not determine distracted driving as a factor leading up to the crash.
The woman was assessed at the scene and later released following a DUI investigation, he said.
