A mental competency examination was ordered Tuesday for a man suspected of breaking into Kim Kardashian’s Hidden Hills home and taking one of her staff members’ vehicles for a joy ride.
Trey Hunter Mendel, 27, was charged Tuesday with one felony count each of second-degree burglary and driving or taking a vehicle without consent, according to a criminal complaint.
Mendel was arrested Sunday after deputies responded about 3:45 p.m. to a residential burglary call in the 24800 block of Long Valley Road in the unincorporated Hidden Hills area near Calabasas, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The sheriff’s department did not identify the resident, but the home was widely reported to belong to Kardashian.
Kardashian and her family were not home at the time, according to reports.
Mendel is due in a Hollywood courtroom Aug. 25.
