A 15-year-old West Covina High School student with a history of making threats was arrested after he told a teacher he was going to shoot and kill her and then told a school resource officer he would shoot and kill as many officers as he could, police said Friday.
The student was arrested about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, West Covina police Officer Eddie Flores said.
The boy “was mumbling in class and shouting profanities out loud,” Flores said.
“The teacher asked him several times to stop cursing in class with no success. At one point, another student asked the suspect to stop. The suspect replied by saying he was going to kill the teacher.”
The teacher asked the boy to leave the room and followed him out, at which point he told her he was “going to shoot her in the face and watch her die,” Flores said.
When the school’s resource officer responded, the suspect attempted to assault him but was instead brought under control without the use of force and arrested.
“During the investigation, the suspect told the officer he was going to shoot as many officers as possible from his bedroom window,” Flores said. “The suspect said, ‘I am going to kill as many officers as I can can before they kill me.”
The teen was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation and upon his release was booked on suspicion of making criminal threats, threats against a school official and assault on a peace officer.
He was then taken to Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall in Downey.
