A bomb threat that turned out to be unfounded prompted authorities to search the campus of Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach Friday, police said.

The threat was received at the Manhattan Beach Police Department and resulted in a lockdown of the campus at 701 S. Peck Ave. for about a half-hour beginning shortly after 10 a.m., according to police.

“A cursory search of classrooms by staff and an external search by MBPD and high school security deemed the threat not credible,” according to a police statement.

It was the latest in a series of such incidents involving the school.

On Dec. 14, the campus was placed on lockdown due to a bomb threat left on an office voicemail. The all-clear was given after about two hours.

On Dec. 11, the school and Pennekamp Elementary were closed for the day “due to a specific threat.” Authorities later that day reported that “no suspicious activity” existed at either campus.

On Dec. 7, a “non-specific” threat prompted authorities to evacuate Mira Costa High School and cancel classes for the day, police said. A search of the campus turned up nothing dangerous, however.
