What sounded like shots being fired sent people running for safety on the campus of Los Angeles Valley College in Valley Glen, but no evidence of a shooting or victims was found, police said.

Possible gunfire was reported just before 7 p.m. Wednesday at the campus near the intersection of Fulton Avenue and Burbank Boulevard, according to Officer Tony Im of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police and sheriff’s deputies evacuated the campus as a precaution, Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez said.

The college was placed on lockdown and people on the campus were told to lock doors and shelter in place while police and sheriff’s deputies investigated.
