One USC athlete tested positive for the coronavirus in the past week among 122 tests, the university announced Friday.
The athlete who tested positive had not returned to campus or participated in any workouts but developed symptoms at home and returned to USC for care under the supervision of USC’s medical team.
The athlete’s name and sport were not disclosed.
Since testing began in mid-June, there have been eight positive tests among the 559 conducted on returning athletes who are participating in on-campus workouts in football, men’s water polo, women’s soccer, women’s volleyball and men’s and women’s basketball.
There has been one positive test among the past 242.
All athletes who tested positive were put in isolation.
USC will continue to closely monitor and conduct regular testing of all athletes returning to workouts.
