There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday for the opening of the Al Vasquez Learning Center.

The facility, located at 45102 Smurr St., is an educational hub home to an existing private organization providing academic and developmental skills for local children and adults. The organization has a religious subfocus.

Vasquez, who passed away in 2017, was a Coachella Valley businessman and journalist who founded a self-help housing program, bilingual newspaper and film festival in the area, among other ventures.

The opening is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday.
