A Los Angeles City Council committee Monday backed a proposal to close Alma Park from sunset to sunrise each day in response to San Pedro residents’ complaints about illegal activity in the area.
The park at West 21st and South Meyler streets is currently open from 5 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
The proposed new hours advanced by the City Council’s Arts, Parks, Health, Aging and River Committee require the support of the full City Council to go into effect.
