The L.A. County Registrar-Recorder reports that turnout at the polls is 7.96 percent as of 4 p.m.

It wasn’t clear how that compared to previous elections, but there was speculation that Tuesday’s balloting could draw very few people to the polls.

In fact, it’s possible turnout could be less than the 18 percent from 2009.

Polls close at 8 p.m.

Numerous city council races are being voted on, as is the mayor and a controversial developer proposition, Measure S. Also Measure H for Los Angeles County would have people pay to help combat homelessness.
