About 250 demonstrators gathered at the steps of City Hall Saturday to demand that an independent commission be set up to investigate whether President Trump colluded with the Russian government in the 2016 U.S. presidential campaign.

One of the organizers of the “March for Truth, Transparency and Democracy,” Isaac Price, called Trump a “Manchurian Candidate.”

“It’s (the commission) critical, because he (Trump) is steadily marching our nation into the past,” Price said. “The truth is what we need to hear.”

Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Los Angeles, told the responsive crowd to “get ready for impeachment.”

About 15 pro-Trump supporters were on the outskirts of the demonstration, toting “Make American Great Again” banners. Authorities reported no violence or arrests.

A larger crowd of pro-Trump demonstrators gathered Saturday at Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley for a Make America Great Again march. The OC Register said about 200 marchers gathered for the 11 a.m. start of the march, organized by Southern California Silent Majority.
