Residents who believe they’ve been scammed or have questions about renters’ rights or protecting personal information from identity theft will have a chance to find answers Wednesday at a downtown resource fair focused on consumer protections.
The county’s Department of Consumer and Business affairs is a partner in the free event, which is sponsored annually by the Federal Trade Commission as part of National Consumer Protection Week.
Representatives from the Federal Trade Commission, Internal Revenue Service, Consumer Product Safety Commission, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, California Department of Business Oversight, Contractors State License Board, California Public Utilities Commission, Office of the Los Angeles City Attorney and Koreatown Immigrant Workers Alliance are among those set to attend.
They will answer questions about various issues concerning the latest scams, protecting personal information, renters’ and homeowners’ rights, and more.
“The Los Angeles County Department of Consumer and Business Affairs works tirelessly to educate and protect consumers becoming victimized in the marketplace,” DCBA Director Brian J. Stiger said. “If you feel you’ve been a victim of a scam, or have questions about your home, your money, or your business, DCBA is here to answer the call.”
