California Sen. Kamala Harris and Rep. Judy Chu, D-Monterey Park, are scheduled to be among the elected officials joining former Vice President Joe Biden in speaking Monday at the AAPI Progressive Summit, which will be held on a virtual basis.
Topics Harris and Chu will speak on include the influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders on the 2020 election, the importance of the U.S. Supreme Court to Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and why Biden must be elected president, according to Varun Nikore, president of the AAPI Victory Fund, which is organizing the summit.
Nikore described the summit as “a celebration of AAPI Heritage Month, a showcase of AAPI members of Congress and the vast diversity amongst the AAPI coalition.”
A donation to the AAPI Victory Fund or Biden’s presidential campaign is required to watch the summit via Zoom.
The AAPI Victory Fund is a super PAC dedicated to mobilizing Asian American and Pacific Islander voters. It endorsed Biden for president on Jan. 17.
