Three city-owned facilities in Palm Springs will reopen Wednesday after being shuttered due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The indoor facilities — the Palm Springs Leisure Center, the Demuth Community Center and the James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center — will stay open on a Monday-through-Friday schedule, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
City officials said the facilities, which closed last March, will open with 25% of capacity due to Riverside County remaining in the orange tier of the governor’s “Blueprint for a Safer Economy” framework.
Reservations are required for many classes and services.
The Desert Highland Unity Center — located at 480 Tramview Road — will resume several classes and offerings, including tutoring, dance classes and its drill team and drum squad programs.
The Demuth Community Center — located at 3601 E. Mesquite Road — has a computer lab, which requires advanced reservations, and pickleball and table tennis courts. Officials urged prospective players to make reservations on the courts due to limited space.
The Palm Springs Leisure Center offers several classes for Palm Springs residents. It is located at 401 S. Pavilion Way.
