Hugo Soto-Martinez expanded his lead over incumbent Councilman Mitch O’Farrell Monday in the race for the 13th District council seat, according to the latest update from the L.A. County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk.
Soto-Martinez, a labor organizer, leads O’Farrell by more than 4,000 votes. He holds 55% of the vote to 45% for O’Farrell, who is seeking a third and final term.
Soto-Martinez has not declared victory yet, but posted on Twitter on Friday that he was “grateful to the residents of CD13 for believing in our movement.”
“We can’t wait to work with you to usher in a new era for Los Angeles,” Soto-Martinez said.
He said in a reply to Spectrum News reporter Kate Cagle that he’ll “let others do the declarations before we do.”
Other city council races remained mostly unchanged Monday.
In the Fifth District race, Katy Young Yaroslavsky expanded her lead slightly over Sam Yebri to more than 10,000 votes. Traci Park remained ahead of Erin Darling, 54% to 46%. in Council District 11. And in the 15th District, Tim McOsker appears poised to win, maintaining nearly two-thirds of the vote over Danielle Sandoval.
None of the leading candidates has declared victory yet.
