Metro announced Friday that it has completed needed repairs to the power line system on the Metro A (Blue) and E (Expo) lines in downtown Los Angeles, and regular train service will resume.

Regular train service will resume every 10 minutes during peak hours Monday to Friday, every 12 minutes off-peak hours and midday, and every 20 minutes after 8 p.m.

Metro ambassadors will be available to inform passengers of the return to normal service at the Seventh Street/Metro Center Station, Little Tokyo/Arts District Station, Los Angeles Union Station and Pico Station.

On Thursday night, Metro posted a series of Tweets explaining what caused the disruption to its service on the A and E lines.

“Last Saturday morning, a train’s pantograph in the A & E line tunnel south of Seventh/Metro got tangled in the metal bar overhead that delivers power to trains,” Metro reported.

“Result: the power system fell from the ceiling, which in our biz is called a `major failure.”’

According to Metro, the agency had to evacuate the train and remove it from the tunnel, along with another train that sustained damage.

Repairs began Wednesday that entailed the installation of new wire and many parts that power the trains.

Metro closed two tracks between Pico Station and Seventh/Metro. So, the agency ran both A & E line trains every 20 minutes. The repairs were complete Friday morning.
