Los Angeles County will mark the beginning of Pride Month with a couple of flag raising ceremonies Tuesday.
The county LGBTQ+ Commission, joined by the Board of Supervisors and District Attorney Nathan Hochman, will host a ceremonial raising of the Progress Pride Flag at the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration in downtown Los Angeles at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Assessor Jeffrey Prang, Los Angeles County Fire Department Deputy Chief Jon O’Brien and Sister Unity from the Los Angeles Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence will also be part of the ceremony.
“This event reaffirms the county’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and visibility for the LGBTQ+ community,” a statement said.
Additionally, the county Department of Public Social Services, with representatives of local LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations, will host a Pride flag-raising ceremony with the theme of “Pride: It Begins With Us.”
That event will be held at 9 a.m. at the DPSS Headquarters at 12860 Crossroads Parkway S., in Industry.
“The event reaffirms DPSS’ core values of dignity, equity, and access for all. The Pride Flag Raising is more than symbolic, it is a public statement of DPSS’ unwavering dedication to equity and inclusion,” officials said in a statement.
“DPSS proudly upholds its commitment to ensuring that all customers receive access to programs and services.”
