The Monkees were a 1960s made-for-TV rock band intended to capitalize on Beatlemania. Well, the Beatles are no more. But The Monkees plug on, with a 50th anniversary tour stopping in L.A. this fall.

The four-member group’s “Good Times” tour arrives Sept. 16 at the Pantages Theatre — but without Davy Jones, who died in 2012, and perhaps not Mike Nesmith.

Fifty summers ago, “Last Train to Clarksville” rocketed up the pop charts. The new tour coincides with release of a new record called the first collection of new Monkees music since 1997.

Rolling Stone reports it will have songs written by Noel Gallagher, Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie and Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo.

The album and tour isn’t reportedly won’t involve Nesmith but will have Peter Tork.

Dolenz said the door is open to Nesmith: “I don’t see him going on the road, and certainly not for the whole grueling thing. I sure hope he does show up at some point and sing a couple of songs with us.”
