Sully Sullenberger can land a plane on the Hudson. Who knew he could fly as an actor? Jimmy Kimmel did, apparently, when he cast the pilot as Tom Hanks in a tribute “biopic.”

As Time recounted, “The short film follows Hanks – played by Sullenberger – through his career from a failed actor to his pivotal roles in Forrest Gump, Castaway and Philadelphia, with a special cameo from Peter Scolari referencing Hanks’ short-lived sitcom Bosom Buddies.”

Kimmel on his ABC late-night show told Hanks: “You did such a good job playing Sully in this film. But we felt it was time that somebody pay tribute to your life and your career.”

After seeing the clip, Hanks said: “Chesley Sullenberger, I used to have such respect for you. Now we’ve both had chequered careers.”
