Tiger Woods is giving hope to the golf world (and all its revenue streams) by making a stellar start at his comeback tournament in the Bahamas — the Hero World Challenge.

Certainly, the Golf Channel’s TigerTracker on Twitter is celebrating. It has something to do.

CBS Sports reported Thursday: “Tiger Woods shot a 33 on the front nine at the Hero World Challenge on Thursday in Round 1. He got to 4 under through his first eight holes before making bogey at the ninth for the 33. It was a startling performance for somebody, even as good as Tiger once was, who has not played competitively in nearly 16 months.”

The son of the Southland almost shot a hole-in-one on the par-3 eighth hole.

“Woods’ swing has looked smooth and impressive all day, and when you leave yourself putts like this one, you’re going to score pretty well,” CBS said.
