The clock is ticking for Megyn Kelly’s June debut on NBC, but the Fox News refugee could be a time bomb for CBS. Her Sunday night show will go head-to-head with “60 Minutes.”
“Ms. Kelly’s re-entry had been delayed in part because of protracted negotiations over the terms of her exit from Fox News, which retained the right to keep her off the air until her contract was terminated,” said The New York Times. “NBC is also trying to identify a niche for Ms. Kelly within its crowded news division, which already boasts name-brand stars like Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie and Lester Holt.”
But a newsmagazine on the Peacock Network isn’t Kelly’s only gig.
Page Six reports that her upcoming morning program “remains in shambles.”
“We’re told NBC is still scrambling to find a staff and executive producer for the weekday morning show, which will debut in the fall.
One source is quoted as saying: “It’s a very real problem. There’s no staff in place. They have no idea what they’re going to do with Megyn. Ideas range from talk show to studio audience to news show. It’s a problem.”
But another NBC insider said: “Megyn’s morning show is almost entirely staffed — and it doesn’t air for another five months. They just haven’t announced anybody.”
