Coldplay doesn’t arrive in Los Angeles until Oct. 6, but the British band’s tour debut in New Jersey paid homage to Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington, who committed suicide last month at his Palos Verdes Estates home.

“Chris Martin paused during the show to pay tribute to … Bennington,” said thisisinsider.com. “He performed a stripped-down version of ‘Crawling’ off the band’s debut album ‘Hybrid Theory’ with piano accompanying his voice.

One video of the performance was shared by Bennington’s Linkin Park bandmate Mike Shinoa, who said: “It was beautiful.”

“In the wake of Bennington’s death, several artists shared their condolences, including Pharrell, the Mountain Goats’ John Darnielle, and Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong,” noted pitchfork.com. “Linkin Park posted an open letter addressed to Bennington, saying their ‘hearts are broken.’”
