Hadley Freeman of The Guardian newspaper interviewed “Titanic” and “Avatar” director James Cameron. She was fixated most about why Rose couldn’t save Jack from the frigid North Atlantic.
(Cameron gave her two different answers — one in 2012 and the second recently. He now says: “I guess I needed to make a smaller board apparently.”)
But the quote giving most critics the chills was Cameron’s perceived putdown of “Wonder Woman.”
“All of the self-congratulatory back-patting Hollywood’s been doing over ‘Wonder Woman’ has been so misguided,” he said. “She’s an objectified icon, and it’s just male Hollywood doing the same old thing! I’m not saying I didn’t like the movie but, to me, it’s a step backwards.”
Of course, many are stepping forward to rebut Cameron.
“Be careful in the world of men, Diana, for they do not deserve you.”

I don’t entirely agree with James Cameron’s WONDER WOMAN remarks, but I shall defend unto death my right not to give a crap.

Nothing good about the Cameron Wonder Woman piece, so here’s a quote from Linda Hamilton about what it was like being married to him instead pic.twitter.com/ecY92gaYjp

I wish James Cameron would realize any great leading roles for women are a step forward. Sarah Connor was awesome & so was Wonder Woman.

Sorry Mr. Cameron, #WonderWoman isn’t the hero we deserve, but she’s the one we believe in, a real step forward for women in superhero films pic.twitter.com/m4PUVeRgt2

I respect James Cameron’s opinion, but beauty alone doesn’t define Wonder Woman (or ANY woman). Sexy and powerful aren’t mutually exclusive. pic.twitter.com/Kfd9aIqfIu
