Fake news is as American as apple pie. And so is everything on the website asamericanasapplepie.org.
Says one recent story: EXCLUSIVE: Mike Pence Will Retire For ‘Personal Reasons’
Says another: BREAKING: Alec Baldwin Dragged From The Emmys In Handcuffs After Threatening Trump’s Life On Hot Mic
The hoax-busting site Snopes.com debunked the Baldwin story speedily, saying: “As American As Apple Pie is a satirical, fake news web site which publishes exclusively fake content, and alludes to its own unreliability in [a] tongue-in-cheek disclaimer.”
Even if you don’t read the disclaimer owning up to the site being filled with fake news, you might realize something’s fishy with the sentence, “Baldwin is being held for questioning at the federal holding facility at Los Alamada del Ray.”
There is no such place.
The fake site’s registration is private, but the domain was created July 13, says whois.icann.org.
