Rose McGowan, the face of the Harvey Weinstein accusers network, was free on $5,000 bail Tuesday after turning herself in to Virginia authorities.
“Ms. McGowan appeared in Loudoun County… to accept service of the Airports Authority Police arrest warrant, and she was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond,” said a department spokesperson quoted by USA Today.
The 44-year-old actress, model and singer was arrested on a months-old arrest warrant for felony drug possession stemming from a flight she took to Washington Dulles International Airport in January.
“It’s unclear why it took nearly nine months for the warrant to come to light, but it did so just after McGowan took a central role as an outspoken accuser of fallen movie mogul Harvey Weinstein,” USA Today said. “She says he raped her during the 1997 Sundance Film Festival.”
Some fans were outraged, and voiced their support.
