Sarah Silverman, the fearless comedian, famously told Bernie Sanders supporters at the 2016 Democratic National Convention: “You’re being ridiculous.”

(She said that while standing next to Sen. Al Franken, who has his own ridicule to deal with now.)

But Silverman has now posted a video of great discomfort — to herself and her fans. She tries to understand how her longtime friend Louis C.K. could be the monster she never knew.

“I love Louis,” she said. “But Louis did these things. Both of those statements are true, so I just keep asking myself, ‘Can you love someone who did bad things? Can you still love them?’ I can mull that over later, certainly, because the only people that matter right now are the victims.”

Finally addressing “the elephant masturbating in the room,” Silverman recalls “I remembered something I said on this very show, that if it’s mentionable, it’s manageable.”

So she manages to mentions her conflicted feelings, and hints they may change.

Silverman gets credit for trying.
