“Disaster Artist” star James Franco has a disaster on his hands — accusations of hypocrisy for wearing a “Time’s Up” pin at the Golden Globe Awards while being accused of past sexual misconduct.
The New York Daily News highlighted several allegations.
“Actress Violet Paley claimed the actor once sexually assaulted her and tried to lure her 17-year-old friend to his hotel room,” the paper said.
“Cute #TimesUp pin James Franco. Remember the time you pushed my head down in a car towards your exposed penis & that other time you told my friend to come to your hotel when she was 17? After you had already been caught doing that to a different 17 year old?” she wrote on Twitter.

thank you for your support ❤️ just to be clear I wasn’t 17, I was an adult. There are a lot more details that will be out soon. Working with people to do it in the best, safest way

another reason it’s been hard to come forward about this. we did have a consensual relationship as well. unfortunately & fortunately, there are others who went through this same thing as me with him, and worse. I’m glad I am strong enough to speak up for all of us despite trolls

A couple weeks ago, James offered me & a few other girls an overdue, annoyed, convenient phone “apology”. I don’t accept, but maybe some other people’s lives would be made easier if he donated all of his earnings from “The Disaster Artist” to @RAINN01.

Sarah Tither-Kaplan, described as a former acting student of Franco’s, alleged that Franco exploited her by asking her to strip down on set for only $100 per day after she signed a “vague and general at best” contract, said a Daily News story with three bylines.
“Remember a few weeks ago when you told me the full nudity you had me do in two of your movies for $100/day wasn’t exploitative because I signed a contract to do it? Times up on that!” she tweeted. “I 100% did not feel like I had a choice to say no.”
Regarding his relationship with a 17-year-old, Franco once defended himself on “The Howard Stern Show.”
“Seventeen is legal in New York, but that being said, it’s still pretty damn young,” Franco told Stern on his radio show. “They make it out like I’m pursuing young women. I’m not going to high schools looking for dates. I’m leaving my work and they’re coming there. So I’m seeing attractive women.”
Other coverage and comments:
everyone in town knows that james franco is a creep and that stories about his behavior were about to break. the hollywood foreign press knew it too but gave him an award anyway.

Pretty sure this would be my face too if I was Hugh Jackman losing to James Franco, a gross predator of underaged girls who wore a TIMESUP pin to this stupid event and didn’t even get called out for his hypocrisy by Hollywood ???? https://t.co/T1QUTq9CJ5

James Franco admitted to attempting to get a 17 year old to go to his hotel room. Everyone who is saying someone “claimed” that it happened is apparently missing that? He. Admitted. That. He. Did. This. This video is so frikkin cringe. https://t.co/hhH3kuzjkf pic.twitter.com/7h5i6PbpKX

After my profile of Franco was published, some people reached out to tell me about encounters with him. I knew a story was being worked on by some reporters, but these folks got impatient. It’s hard to watch someone who hurt you be lavished w/ praise. https://t.co/GPNVIMlWhO
