Redbox and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Monday announced a new multi-year distribution deal continuing to make SPHE titles available at Redbox kiosks the same day as retail sell-through dates.
As part of the deal, SPHE titles will also be available on Redbox On Demand, according to said Galen Smith, CEO of Redbox.
The new deal goes into effect with SPHE’s latest and upcoming home entertainment releases, including “Goosebumps 2,” “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” and “Holmes & Watson.”
Jason Spivak, executive vice president of distribution at SPHE, said Redbox “continues to be an important distribution partner for our content. At Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, we are committed to satisfying all the ways audiences engage with entertainment, and our deal with Redbox is an important part of our efforts to provide a wide range of options for our consumers.”
Redbox averages about one million movie rentals per day across its network of more than 41,500 kiosks and streaming via Redbox On Demand.
