The Oscars are over, so now it’s time to hear from the younger viewers, with superhero characters and films leading the list of nominees announced Tuesday for the Kids Choice Awards.
“Aquaman,” “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Black Panther” all scored nominations for favorite movie, with “Mary Poppins Returns,” “The Kissing Booth” and “To All the Boy’s I’ve Loved Before” rounding out the category.
Chadwick Boseman was nominated for favorite movie actor for his lead role in “Black Panther,” while Jason Momoa earned a nod for his leading work in “Aquaman” and Chris “Captain America” Evans and Chris “Thor” Hemsworth scored nods for “Avengers: Infinity War.” Also nominated were Dwayne Johnson for “Skyscraper” and Noah Centineo for “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.”
Best actress nominations went Lupita Nyong’o for “Black Panther” and Scarlett Johansson and Zoe Saldana for “Avengers: Infinity War.” Also nominated were Emily Blunt for “Mary Poppins Returns,” Joey King for “The Kissing Booth” and Rihanna for “Ocean’s 8.”
So popular are superheroes among the younger set that they have their own Kids Choice category: favorite superhero. Landing in that category were Boseman, Evans, Hemsworth, Momoa, Johansson and Robert Downey Jr. for his work as Iron Man in “Avengers: Infinity War.”
Among television programs, nominations for favorite funny show went to “The Big Bang Theory,” “Bunk’d,” “Fuller House,” “Henry Danger,” “Modern Family” and “Raven’s Home.”
Nominated for favorite drama were “A Series of Unfortunate Events,” “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” “The Flash,” “Riverdale,” “Stranger Things” and “The Walking Dead.”
The Kids Choice Awards will be handed out March 23 at USC’s Galen Center, with DJ Khaled hosting. Voting began Tuesday at www.KCA2019.com, via the Screens Up smartphone app and on Twitter and Instagram.
“Avengers: Infinity War” led all nominees with 10, followed by “Black Panther” with five and singer Cardi B and “Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation” with four each.
