Police Thursday released surveillance video of a gunman who shot and killed the co-owner of a Downey liquor store during a possible attempted robbery.
It happened about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday inside ASL Liquor and Market in the 8500 block of Paramount Boulevard, according to Downey police.
Gurpreet Singh, 44, of Cerritos died at the scene, the coroner’s office reported.
Singh was found behind the counter of the business, which he co-owned, Downey police Lt. Kathleen Mendoza said.
“Detectives are following up on several investigative leads,” Mendoza said Wednesday afternoon. “At this time it appears to have been an attempted robbery, but detectives are not ruling out other possible motives.”
Investigators released video of the suspect from the store’s surveillance camera in the hope that someone recognizes him and contacts police, Mendoza said.
Security images also showed two men running from the area, but it was unclear if they had involvement in the shooting.
Anyone with information on the case was urged to call police at 562-904-2308.
