Jennifer Aniston, still shocked by her SAG Award for best actress in a drama series, said backstage Sunday evening that she feels as if she’s seeing acting with fresh eyes.
Aniston took home an Actor statuette for her role as a veteran news anchor in “The Morning Show,” her first SAG honor since her 1996 win as part of the ensemble cast of the iconic “Friends.”
“I’m shaking. I did not see that coming at all … I’m overwhelmed,” Aniston said.
Asked what she wanted to be growing up and what she still hopes to accomplish, Aniston replied, “I wanted to be Wonder Woman.”
But she said she believes she has much more to do.
“I really feel like I’m just kicking into a creative stride,” the actress told reporters, citing “a new love” of her craft.
“I want to do more comedies though, God, I want to have some laughter.”
“The Morning Show” focuses on #MeToo issues and Aniston was asked what winning for this role in particular meant to her.
“I feel like I’m so honored to be a part of a show that is beginning the conversation and the dialogue (about) an issue that affects each and every one of us across the world,” she said.
