Tiger Woods and Bubba Watson will serve as non-playing captains for the second annual Celebrity Cup Monday at The Riviera Country Club.
Retired baseball star Alex Rodriguez, retired Los Angeles Lakers guard Derek Fisher and surfing champion Kelly Slater are among the planned participants in six-hole, four-ball net better ball match play event set to begin at 3 p.m.
The other planned participants are Arizona Cardinals star receiver Larry Fitzgerald, actors Michael Pena, Josh Duhamel, Oliver Hudson and Andy Buckley, actress Carly Chaikin, Golf Channel host Blair O’Neal and comedian Sebastian Maniscalco.
Monday’s other events at The Riviera Country Club in connection with The Genesis Invitational are the Collegiate Showcase and ActivePDF Pro-Am.
The Collegiate Showcase is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. and features an individual stroke-play competition with the winner earning a spot in the Genesis Invitational’s 120-player field.
The Collegiate Showcase’s 13-player field includes USC freshman Yuxin Lin and Pepperdine seniors Clay Feagler and Joshua McCarthy.
The Collegiate Showcase also includes a pro-am style event with teams consisting of a PGA Tour pro and two amateurs representing their alma mater. PGA Tour pros expected to compete include Abraham Ancer of Mexico, 29th on the Official World Golf Ranking, and five-time PGA Tour winners J.B. Holmes and Ryan Moore.
The ActivePDF Pro-Am is set to begin at 9 a.m.
Admission is $19.92, a figure honoring the year Woods played in his first PGA Tour event, the Nissan Open, now The Genesis Invitational. Parking is located at Paul Revere Charter Middle School, 13103 Sunset Blvd. Shuttle service will be provided from Longworth Drive to The Riviera Country Club from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
The Riviera Country Club is closed to the public on Tuesday. The pro-am will be held Wednesday, with Woods among the expected participants. Tickets are also $19.92.
Tournament play begins Thursday, with ticket prices beginning at $55.
