“A Complete Unknown”, “The Bear” and “Shogun” were among the productions honored during the 61st Annual CAS Awards, which honor excellence in sound mixing across motion pictures, television and non-fiction programming.
The awards were presented Saturday by the Cinema Audio Society during a ceremony hosted by comedian Tom Papa at the Beverly Hilton.
In addition to the competitive awards, Tod A. Maitland, a writer-producer and sound engineer — whose credits include the 2021 version of “West Side Story”, “JFK” and “Joker” — received the CAS Career Achievement Award from Academy Award-winning filmmaker Oliver Stone.
Director Denis Villeneuve, known for films including “Dune” Parts 1 and 2, “Arrival” and “Blade Runner 2049”, was honored as the CAS Filmmaker of the Year, presented by Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer.
